Meta fiction: Stated from the Spark

   * This is the Metafiction with chain writing. The red part of the story is the chain writing part.

   Laine was just a normal kid with black hair. He was common, and he wants to be a common boy. He enjoyed his life until his twelfth birthday. As usual, he was just walking through the park with many thinks in his brain. While he was thinking about his writing assignments, he just get shocked. Something sparked in his head and just disappeared. He was called by a hospital.



    When he woke up, he didn't remember anything. His mother was crying and his father was seeking around calling someone like a busy businessman. Laine didn't understand anything about this situation and he was curious why he was in the hospital. The spark, that came to Laine's head and just disappeared, were keep whispering something to him. Laine was confused, and thought he just want to sleep. So he closed his eyes and stayed calm.

        The door suddenly shot down itself and lights just turned off. It was bright outside with sunlight burst through the window and birds chirping on the tree. However, the sunlight hide in to the clouds and birds flew away by moving their wings noisily. The students in the classroom gasped and started to scream. The only person who stayed calm and just staring the wall, doing nothing was Laine, which was a ‘loser’ in the class. He was just staring, with no friends. It was very strange that he was looking the wall, but nobody cares. Why? Because he was treated that he is not in the class. But, there was a kind girl named Jane, and she was the only girl who cares about him and feels sorry toward him. She crushed him, even Laine didn’t know about her. Other friends feel strange about her that she like Laine, so she also has a few friends. She didn’t have told that thing as she thought it was a stupid thing to say. But suddenly, an announcement came out. “All students evacuate to the Gym. I repeat. All students evacuate to the Gym.” Everyone but Laine didn’t listen to the announcement. 

    When everyone disappeared, Laine was left alone. So he just decided to go to the gym. However, the thing was terrible than what Laine have expected. The path to the Gym exploded up like a volcano eruption. It was so noisy because stdents were shouting ‘Hey! Why did you bump to me?’ ‘Stop kicking me!’. Because they couldn’t see the light, they were all having one flashlight each and walking through the light came from flashlight. However, Laine just gets into his cozy bed.

   
      When he woke up, the whole hospital was in horror. People were shouting "Boy from room 150 just disappeared last night!" He didn't understand the situation and just started at these crazy monkeys. Then suddenly someone shouted "Hey! Here is the boy!" Most people ran through room 150 and make a noise. "Is him a ghost? How could he disappeared and suddenly show his face?" "I couldn't sleep because the whole hospital was finding him!" Then his mother (Well he would think it is just one lady.) with her makeups all over her face, walk through him. "Laine, where have you been? You just disappeared while I am sleeping!" Then Laine got the answer. 'Oh! I just disappeared while I am sleeping! By the way, that dream was SO REALISTIC."

      By the way, Jane, who was worried about Laine, stood in front Laine’s room’s door and waited him. She became very impatient because Laine didn’t come out from his room for 1 hour. So she got into the dorm to find Laine. She said, ‘Laine, are you there?’ But there was no answer. She knocked the door. No answer. She suddenly started to kick the door, but there wasn't any sound that she could hear from Laine. She finally realized that he just disappeared!

  In the Gym, students were playing games, watching movies, or chatting. They enjoy their time because they have no classes and just playing. Some classes said, 'I love this time. Hey do you know? Today, we have a big test but we are not doing it! Yay!' They were still playing even they were in the danger. While they were playing, Jane ran through teachers and cried, "Laine disappeared!" Teachers worried in the outside, but they were not worried about in their mind because they are in panic because of this 'lights off' problem. 

 The second day after the sparks, the same thing happened in  the hospital. While Laine was having mental healing, all the lights just turned off and the sunlight hide in the mountain in 12 P.M. Laine thought he had seen this situation before, but he couldn't remember. Then he suddenly realized about the dream that he had seen before. He thought 'What's wrong with me? Am I really predicting the future? Or is the future decided by my dream?" He closed his eyes hardly and try to sleep again. 

  Back to Jane, some of the students go back to their homes by their parents picking up, but Jane was not because her parents were on the voyage to Japan. She just slept and woke up. But she was lying on her bed! She started to shout, "Mom! What happen? Why I am lying in my bed?" Jane's mom replied, "What are you talking about, Jane? You always sleep in you bed!" Jane was scared. She hurried and go to school. Then the girls, who tried to avoid her came to her and act friendly. Jane was strange that why they are acting like this suddenly. But all the reply from the girls were, "What are you talking about? We were the best friend since the school starts! Don't you remember your birthday party?" While Lane was walking through the hallways, she suddenly remembered Laine and ran through the teachers' office. But they were all saying, "Who is Laine?"

 Even though Laine closed his eyes hardly as he stick glue on it, he couldn't slept. Even he didn't know the reason. When he asked to the mental doctor about the dream and his last night, the doctor also seem strange about this. When he saw the doctor's face, he suggested to  start the mental healing as usual. One month later, he was having a lunch with her mom. He was also thinking hard as he did in the park. Then the words came out from his mouth. "Oh. Have I been thinking hard since in the park?" Mom surprised with his word and think his memory started to come back and hurried to call the mental doctor. He started the conversation with the doctor and finally, he could find his memory back. 

 Still, Laine think this as the mysterious horror. He couldn't find what happened and what did his dream stands for.

Chain Writing

Argumentative Essay: Is the old monk right to punish the young monk?

  I am going to write an argumentative essay about the video 'Spring Summer Fall Winter and Spring'.



       

   In the part 'Spring' in the video, the young monk harassed the fish, toad, and snake by winding their bodies up with the string that has rock in the end. When the old monk saw this, he did the same thing to the young monk. While young monk is sleeping, the old monk wind young monk's body with a rope and in the end of the rope, he winded up the big rock with the size of his head. Then is the old monk's punishment is right to young monk? Isn't this crucial for the young kid to do same thing as the fish, toad, and snake? In my opinion, more than confronting and scold to young monk, it is the right thing to do. That's because first, the young monk could feel the exact pain with the fish, toad, and snake and get a great affect. Also, the young monk is old enough and he need to know about the pain and understand others while he is harassing people and having fun with it.

   First, the young monk need to be punished as the same thing that he did to other animals because he could regret with more truly. He was first having fun with harassing the fish, toad and snake, even though he saw that they are moving hardly. He wouldn't understand the pain they are having. When he did not understand their pain while he was watching the animals having hard times, he will continuously do this. However, he knew that the fish, toad, and snake were having an arduous time with the rocks in the back of their bodies. He lastly cried in the end scene. He was also having an arduous time with the rock, but some of the animals that he harassed, the fish and snake are dead. He would be sorry for them. But when the old monk just scold him, he won't understand why he need to release them (he can feel sorry but not in his sincere. He would feel sympathy, not empathy). Experience firsthand is the best way to punish. 

  The young monk is old enough to be punished as same as the fish, toad, and snake. He is just living in the temple only with the old monk, so he didn't know how to understand others. He just thinks that old monk would understand him always. When he went to outside, he also would think that everyone in the society would understand him. Without any problem or worry he will live with the old monk while he is growing up. However, he is old enough and need to get taught about many things from the old monk. This is just the first step to help him learn many things while he grow up. First he need to know that he is not the only person who is living alone and learn how to understand others. When he is skilled by this, he could live well in the society by making a harmony.

  Sometimes, an advice could be a big help for the children. However, the advice sometimes could not be sent to the children with sincere or truly. Then, make children to experience firsthand could give a huge affect more than the advice, even it is crucial to the children.

Reflective Essay: Spring Summer Fall Winter and Spring

  I am going to compare my own experiment with the movie, Spring Summer Fall Winter, and Spring.

     The old monk and young monk is living in the temple which is in the middle of the mountain lake. Two monks go out of the temple when they are going to gain some herb or other things by the boat. One day, the old monk saw that the young monk is winding up the fish, toad, and snake with the string and the end of the string, he winded up the small rock. Because of the rock, fish, toad, and snake couldn't move well. Then the old monk decided to do same thing to the yong monk. He first had a big rock with the size of his head and wind up it in the end of the rope. Then he winded up the young monk while the yong monk was sleeping. When the young monk woke up, he regret about the situation what he did and try to let them out from the rope. But the snake and fish were dead.

    The young monk first had a fun time while he was tormenting fish, toad, and snake. However, he regret about his last action by the old monk's teaching. As this fable, parents also teach their children as the old monk teach the young monk. I also taught by my parent about the the situation that I did wrong about. But I am on a special case. Even thought they scream and scold at me, I actually didn't feel that I am wrong and I didn't regret about my action. I once make other friend hurt in the feeling (not with the physical as this young monk). I once said that 'I hate you!' and don't play with her. I don't know the reason why I felt that I hate her, as the young monk's feeling that he didn't know why he felt fun while he was harassing the fish, toad, and snake. However, I got a huge problem when I go up to fifth grade. Friends started to avoid and stop talking or playing with me. After this, I started to cry after I came to home when my mom came back from her business. Then she told me about what is wrong. I behave badly to that friend and it is just coming back to me as a karma. While I am still crying, I suddenly regret about my action. 'Why did I do that? I could just be kind to her!' After a discussion with my mom, I try to step toward to them with different mind with before. I try to be nice to my friends and not to give a physical feeling attack.

    Even though my experiences were little different with the part that the parents or older people giving advice. In the video, the old monk do the same thing and give a punishment. However, my mom just help me to solve my problem by myself, not giving any punishment. I think that old monk's way was little crucial to the young monk. Because the young monk is childish and young, he didn't know a lot including the importance of the other animals' lives. Two monks just could solve their problem with a discussion. However, I think the way of the old monk give a great affect to the young monk's mind, so this wasn't so bad idea at all. I prefer the way of the old monk more.

Comparative Essay: Caine's Arcade vs. KONY 2012

  I am going to compare the two videos, 'Caine's Arcade' and 'KONY 2012'. Before reading this, I suggest you to watch these videos first.

KONY 2012



     We watched two videos, 'KONY 2012' and 'Caine's Arcade'. First, KONY 2012 is about one man, Joseph Kony and the children in Uganda. Joseph Kony kidnaps children when they are asleep and make them children soldiers. Then he orders the children to shoot their own parents with their gun. Because of this, children in Africa, especially in Uganda are not safe. They didn't know when they will be kidnapped. However, by KONY 2012 project started from the group Invisible Children, they are trying to stop Kony. The next video is about 9 years boy, Caine. He made his own arcade, toy machine like one in the real game shop in his father's autopart store. He made all of his arcade stuff by himself, and also tickets such as tokens and Fun Pass. His idea was fascinating, but there were few customers because his dad's store was located in the place where a few people go through. One day, one of the customer visited Caine's Arcade and he was impressed. He made a Facebook group 'Caine's Arcade' and many people was known about Caine's Arcade. Finally, Caine's Arcade become the popular arcade all around the world.

    Between these videos, there are similar things, but also different things. The similar thing is that both videos is known and became famous by Facebook, and also YouTube. Each video started from the Facebook group. Because Facebook is one of the most popular social networks, people could see about it and information about Kony and Caine's Arcade could spread all around the world. Both videos are also viral video that spread faster as the virus. They were uploaded in YouTube, and many people saw this video. Finally, they could be the one of the popular video in YouTube. Third, this video is mainly about the kids, which are having problems. In KONY 2012, a kid living in Uganda, named Jacob had a problem that he need to be always worried because he was living in unsafe environment that he didn't know when he would be kidnapped. In Caine's Arcade, Caine had a problem that he had a few, or none of his customers. But all of this was solved with a help of alot of people. This also could be the similar thing of both videos. In KONY 2012, all people around the world, including Invisible Children, help them to stop KONY and now Kony's actions are silent. Because of this, some thinks that Kony is dead. In Caine's Arcade, the customers from all around the world helped Caine to have many customers and play with his arcade. In addition, there are the last similar point about each project, not about the video. They are all collecting the money from other people. KONY 2012 is collecting money that will be used for help to Uganda children, and in Caine's Arcade, the owner of the Caine's Arcade site (the customer who was impressed by Caine's Arcade and made a Facebook group) collects money for Caine's education fees.

    Even though Caine's Arcade and KONY 2012 have similar parts, they are also having different parts. The setting and emotion of KONY 2012 in the video is mostly sad and scary. The 3D effect also make the video more scary. By the way in Caine's Arcade, I divided its emotion to three parts. First, when he had few customers or no customers, it felt lonely. However when there are the first customer playing with Caine's Arcade, a hopeful emotion could be found. Lastly, when the huge amount of the customers came to play Caine's Arcade, joyful and excited emotion could be found in the video.

  

    KONY 2012 and Caine's Arcade is extremely different video with different themes and contents. It is amazing that we could found the familiar parts between them.

Review Essay: The New Influence in Writing, Blog-Writing

  When we are having writing assignments, what do you usually do? First, students have papers or handouts from their classes and they fill the paper with their hands. However, now the technology developed. Students check their assignments with internet websites and they usually type in their own websites, Microsoft Word, etc. Some send their writings with their emails, and some print their typed essay and handout to their teachers. How boring even the technology developed enough! Then, let's have a new idea. For have a fun with writing assignments, what will you do? Did you think that 'social network' could be one of the ways to write? We could use social network to do your writing assignment, such as blogs. Isn't this new and fresh? Actually this is from GLPS camp writing class. Let's have a look of it.

   In the first day of the GLPS writing class, students are having a Gmail account. Then they make their own blog with their Gmail account in 'Blogspot' for free! When they are done, then let's start to have FUN! But before, you need to understand about 'Blog-Writing' first. What is the advantage of blog-writing? First, it is fascinating. Usually most academies or schools let students their revise papers, and students just trash it. In the other hand, this blog-writing is trying for the new type of education. They could feel their amusement when they are decorating and uploading their blogs to make it better. By changing its skins, adding the gadgets, editing the videos and pictures in their writings, they could enjoy their writing than before. Second, they are comfortable. In GLPS camp writing class, students usually update their writing assignments in their blogs. Then students could see others' writings and share it. Also, they could comment for their thinking or opinions to each others' writing. For example, teachers and TAs could be comfortable when they are revising students writings. They also reply on students' writings and sometimes, they copy them and revise it. While teachers or TAs are busy, they could also check on their spare time with their computers, or also smartphone. Lastly, we could save our writings forever when we do not delete our blogs. Students trash their revised handouts from their teachers. However, when we are using our blogs, we could edit them and see it later that what we had done before.

    This could bring a huge effect on the education and later, other subjects, not only writing could also use this idea. I wish this idea could be known to people and spread to other schools or academies.
